Adventures: > 2006 - Frostfell Easter Eggs

In the context of software (get that Cadbury Bunny out of your head!), an Easter Egg is a hidden feature or novelty that the programmers have put in their software. In general, it is any hidden, entertaining thing that a creator hides in their creation only for their own personal reasons. This can be anything from a hidden list of the developers, to hidden commands, to jokes, to funny animations. You'd be surprised just how many things contain Easter Eggs... -The Easter Egg Archive

Easter Eggs can often pay tribute to special memories and I think that is what we have here. Some grumpy people may confuse that with thinking that they were put in to copy characters do to lack of imagination. This really is not the case and these artists have already proven in the past that they are talented and imaginative anyway. We see lots of retelling of old stories in different ways in their styles, on TV, in movies, even in books. It takes some imagination to make a good version with your own style. If you mess it up, you are surely to receive bad praise from your fans. Thankfully in EQ2 the devs have a great team and always manage to impress me. -Littlelisa

In the C.S. Lewis Novel "The Chronicles of Narnia" their is a Wardrobe which allows people to enter thru it to the world of Narnia. This is an Easter Egg that pays tribute to that. In order to get to Frostfell wonderland we must first go thru the "Magic Closet" Pretty kool huh! Here are some pics from the movie adaptation.

This Easter Egg pays tribute to one of the most loved holiday movies that has stood the test of time, "A Christmas Story." We've all seen it and most of us still love it today. I tune in every year to TBS's 24 hour Christmas Story marathon. Remember when Flick and friends are going to school and he is double-dog dared to see if it is really true that you can get your tongue stuck on a frozen poll? How many times as a child have we mentioned this and wondered if it was true! I know that every winter when I was a kid, I always heard someone dare someone else to do it and it worked too! It really gave me a heartfull warm feeling when I saw the NPC Fleck doing the same thing. It brought back fun youthful memories.

Another holiday favorite. Every year children and adults set their televisions on to watch some of the old animated/stop-motion cartoons. This year I even bought my niece her very own DVD copy! Yukon Cornelius was a character in the top rated holiday special "Rodolph the Red Nosed Reindeer." There are a number of adaptations but the NBC December 6th, 1964 is my favorite. He was the one that was always searching for silver and gold by throwing his mining pick into the snow and tasting it for silver. How funny is that! I walked upon an "Acorn Kornelius" in Frostfell Wonderland. It really gave me an awesome feeling to meet this NPC. Some posters on the forum expressed their love for it as well. He makes a number of funny reminiscent remarks about tasting. Also note the flying reindeer.

McScroogle AKA Mr. Scrooge. We all know who he is of course! From the story, "A Christmas Carol."
