In the context of software (get that Cadbury Bunny out of your head!), an Easter Egg is a hidden feature or novelty that the programmers have put in their software. In general, it is any hidden, entertaining thing that a creator hides in their creation only for their own personal reasons. This can be anything from a hidden list of the developers, to hidden commands, to jokes, to funny animations. You'd be surprised just how many things contain Easter Eggs... -The Easter Egg Archive
Easter Eggs can often pay tribute to special memories and I think that is what we have here. Some grumpy people may confuse that with thinking that they were put in to copy characters do to lack of imagination. This really is not the case and these artists have already proven in the past that they are talented and imaginative anyway. We see lots of retelling of old stories in different ways in their styles, on TV, in movies, even in books. It takes some imagination to make a good version with your own style. If you mess it up, you are surely to receive bad praise from your fans. Thankfully in EQ2 the devs have a great team and always manage to impress me. -Littlelisa |
